With the increased usage of the Internet and the lower cost of PC's, many people now desire to share their Internet connections or computer peripherals (printers, storage, etc) across multiple pc's.
For those of you getting ready to build a new house, networking should not even be an issue. If your builder does not provide networking as at least an option, then their are many companies that will be happy to do the work. Perhaps check with the builder's electrician.
For those of you who are in a house already, with no plans to build in the near future, things are a bit more complicated. This doesn't mean that it can't be done.
